Dear Colleagues:
The Office of Research & Creative Activities is pleased to invite nominations for the 2026-27 Faculty Research Lectures (FRL). Selection as a Faculty Research Lecturer is a recognition by peers of exceptional achievement in research and/or creative activities and provides the recipients an opportunity to share their scholarship broadly. Every year, one lecturer is selected by their peers in each of two categories: (1) natural sciences or engineering and (2) the humanities, social sciences, or creative arts. The selected faculty members will deliver public lectures during the following academic year on topics of their choice.
Further information about the program and process can be found on the
FRL website. Nominations must be submitted by
Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
The Faculty Research Lectures program reflects UCLA’s dedication to excellence in research and creative activities while also recognizing the importance of widely sharing UCLA faculty-generated knowledge with a broader audience. This year, we celebrate the outstanding achievements and lasting contributions of the following Faculty Research Lecturers:
Dr. Tommaso Treu will present the 140th Faculty Research Lecture on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 2:00 to 3:15 p.m. PDT at Schoenberg Hall. For more details, visit the
